Connected Aviation Solutions (CAS) is leading the Connected Ecosystem strategic pillar for Collins Aerospace. Within CAS, the Messaging and Flight Operations Engineering team develops cutting edge services and infrastructures to ensure you, your family, your friends, and passengers around the globe arrive at their destination on time. We are seeking qualified candidates to lead our Messaging Software Development team as they develop software services that support over 1,500 aviation customers and transmit over 75 million messages per day.    

Primary responsibilities :  

  • Coach and mentor, a geographically distributed team of Software Engineers who design and support our Messaging Services  

  • Collaborate with the Value Stream Leaders, Product Line Managers, peers, and your team to maintain line of sight on the products your team supports.  

  • Guide your team members to track their tasks and address roadblocks to meet milestones to ensure on-time delivery.   

  • Develop your team and help them grow in their current roles and beyond.  

  • Recommend process and template improvements and drive consistent delivery metrics for the products you support.  

  • Lead change initiatives to identify and implement creative, compliant ways to balance the cost of change with engineering value

  • Roll up monthly resource planning and staffing demand charts.  

  • May participate in monthly product/program reviews    

  • Ability to travel domestically and/or internationally about once per quarter.  

Minimum Requirements :  

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience

  • Experience leading engineering teams in an Agile environment.  

  • Familiar with some instance of the Agile Framework ( Ex. SAFe , Scrum, Scaled Agile, etc.)

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen  

Preferred:  

  • Technical domain knowledge in the Aviation community  

  • Experience with IBM COTS: MQ Series and RDMQ  

  • Experience with Java and large-scale, web-based applications and microservices  

  • Experience with Kubernetes pods and Docker containers  

  • Experience with Oracle database and the fundamentals of Big Data

P3 Employee Referral Eligible

The salary range for this role is 112,000 USD - 236,000 USD; however, Raytheon Technologies considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills.
