Job Description Summary
The Embedded Software Chief Consulting Engineer provides consultation and oversight for concept creation, translation of concept requirements into executable plans, and supports problem resolution, facilitates technical change and provides mentorship in all areas related to Software Design.
In this role, you will also engage and represent Aviation Systems both internally with project teams and the broader engineering organization and externally with customers, certification authorities, regulatory bodies and industry organizations. The scope of this role encompasses engagement and oversight for all software development programs led by the Aviation Systems US Engineering teams.
The preferred location of this role will be onsite at either our Grand Rapids, MI; Clearwater, FL; or Dayton, OH facility. There is also a remote option with up to 25% travel required.

Essential Responsibilities
Outstanding technical & product expertise in the aviation software domain
Solves critical cross-functional technical issues
Technology visionary will drive strategy & implementation
Champions simple cost-effective solutions with speed
Provide technical consultation and leadership for the product life cycle, particularly in the areas of Software Design execution
Promotes environment of appropriate risk taking, learning, adapting and strong cross functional teaming
Provide leadership and guidance during the design review process, as well as preside over formal technology and design milestone reviews as required
Will chair software design board promoting documentation of best practices lessons learned design standards/practices
Promote division wide initiatives related to highly efficient safety, reliability, certification and continued airworthiness methodologies
Stays current and involved with GE Global Research, aerospace industry, academia and regulatory initiatives to ensure state of the art competitiveness
Optimizes capability by leveraging Controlled Title Holder & broader GE Aviation Systems technical community
Anticipates & addresses technology needs and talent gaps
Provide technical mentoring to the global Controlled Titled Holder community and pipeline
Qualifications/Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field
A minimum of 12 years of experience in technologies related to Embedded Software Design
A minimum of 3 years of experience with Civil Certification of software products
Desired Characteristics
Master's degree in Engineering or related field
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Leadership to pursue highly effective yet compliant engineering process
Ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization
Considered an expert in aviation software design and implementation

Our preferred location for this position is one of the following: Grand Rapids MI, Clearwater FL, or Dayton OH on a hybrid basis.
Remote option available if required
Note, the business may require the employee to come onsite initially for on-the-job trainings as well as onboarding activities. After that period, up to 25% travel (domestic and/or international) may be required annually to support business needs.
The salary range for this position is 183,300 -305,500 USD Annual. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for a performance bonus/variable incentive plan.
